Mustang Country - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  From out of the west the thundering power of a wild mustang horse, leaving snow kicked from its heels to hang suspended against the backdrop of rugged Idaho Mountains.
Remember the Wonder - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  A pencil drawing reflecting a child's wonder of the season as tiny hands reach to cup the magical, shiny Christmas ball suspended from a pine bough.
Old Mexico - Watercolor by May Floyd Shumate.  This peaceful afternoon siesta street scene features red tile roofs atop white adobe buildings, a false front mercantile and dusty street leading to the distant mission.
Red Heeler - by Leslie May Shumate.  An alert Red Heeler dog, just waiting for its owner's next word is captured in a pencil portrait.
Swaybacks - by May Floyd Shumate.  An old swayback horse takes a cocked hip nap in front of an equally swaybacked barn.  This oil painting shows the artist's quick eye and appreciation for life's little humorous moments.
Love Finds a Way - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  A special moment of touchingly deep feelings, captured on film as two long separated horse friends reunite, in spite of the barbed wire fence between them.
Masters of Disguise - by Leslie May Shumate.  It's always trick or treat for these furry bandits.  The pencil drawing details two raccoon faces, which though appearing to be similar are in fact quite different from each otherÂ…except for their eyes which do seem to share the same gleam.
Carolers - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  Life imitates art in this photo as a kitty, awakening from an afternoon nap in the warm sun, appears to sing along with the statue of a Caroler in full song.  The statue that precariously shares the window shelf was sculpted by May Floyd Shumate.
Miner's Window - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  An old kerosene lantern hangs on a gray wooded cabin wall next to a window adorned with tattered curtains.  The photographic reminder of long ago is not that far away in the west, where miners working mountain claims still spend evenings by lamplight.
Miss Persian - by Leslie May Shumate.  The model for this pencil portrait was named Sari, which translates to 'one who moves in shadow.'  The dramatic half-light of the drawing not only depicts the reason for her name but the famous Persian pout as well.
Spring Fresh - oil painting by May Floyd Shumate.  Another example of this artist's ability to find art in everything.  Laundry flaps in the breeze on a line suspended by a winter barren tree near a simple country home.  As one single posy sticks its brave head through snow at the base of a stump the viewer can almost hear the first Robin sing.
Welsh Corgi - by Leslie May Shumate.  In this pencil portrait of the popular dog breed the eyes seem to say it all as they ask, "What can I do for you?"
Bobcat - by Leslie May Shumate.  The look in the eyes and the tufts on the ears let the viewer know this is not a regular little house kitty but a pencil drawing of a wild bobcat.  The drawing details the intricate markings and the animal's power of intense concentration.
Nature's Perspective - Photograph by Leslie May Shumate.  Even a mud puddle can be beautifulÂ…it all depends on how your look at it.  Looking through the tire tracks, a quiet evening in the Ponderosa Pine forest can be seen.
Best Friends - by Leslie May Shumate.  The Yellow Labrador dog is a friend to all, even obstreperous kitties who push their way into pencil portraits.
